Let’s hear it for classical

When you think of modern tripods, you think carbon fiber, aircraft-grade aluminum, sleek, black… wood?

The Expedition Tripod is great example of simplifying, reducing to only the components that matter, and choosing the right tool for the job. Wood is a much better material for dispersing and absorbing shock, which is something you need to think about when evaluating tripods. This German tripod is made of varnished ash, big steel parts, and is simply striking. Imagine a modern Canon 5D Mark II on that puppy. I can!

It just goes to show that sometimes instead of living up to what people expect, delivering something they don’t, can really pay off.
